Environmental Policy

Scope

This environmental policy applies to all Salisbury Picture Company Ltd. employees, associates, agency staff, and third parties who undertake activity for, and on behalf of, Salisbury Picture Company. It applies to our direct operations, and to the services that we provide to our clients.

Policy

Salisbury Picture Company Ltd. recognises that its activities impact the environment in several ways, principally through:

Business travel

Emissions from our business-related travel, including the transportation of equipment.

Energy

Including the heating, lighting, and electricity that we use in the buildings that we occupy, and when working from home.

Disposal of capital assets

We have an obligation to ensure the safe and secure recycling of capital assets in accordance with relevant regulations.

Use of paper

Through the paper that we use in our day-to-day operations.

Use of plastic

Through the single-use plastic that we use in our day-to-day operations.

Reducing the risk of emergencies

Such as fire through the correct use of equipment, storage of hazardous chemicals and substances, and waste collection and disposal.

In recognising the need for Salisbury Picture Company to reduce its environmental impact, it has set a target to be Net Zero by 2030. More information about Net Zero can be found at gov.uk/government/publications/net-zero-strategy. The following actions will be taken to support this ambition, as well as its commitment to protecting the environment and continually improving its environmental performance by:

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and standards, and the expectations of our clients.
  • Ensuring that our systems and procedures prevent pollution.
  • Ensuring that our suppliers and clients are able and are encouraged to support our environmental commitments.
  • Ensuring that we continually review how we can make improvements to our environmental performance.

Specifically, we will:

  • Reduce energy consumption in the buildings that we occupy, and when working from home through employee awareness and improved controls.
  • Reduce business travel miles through better journey planning.
  • Reduce paper consumption through employee awareness and increased use of electronic communication and data storage.
  • Reduce single-use plastic consumption through the use of reusable water bottles, metal cutlery, and metal straws.
  • Rationalise our use of capital assets and ensure that all redundant electronic equipment is donated, reused, or recycled where possible.
  • Clearly display the approximate amount of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) produced per Km (Kilometre) of air travel* for all equipment.
  • Package equipment in such a way as to reduce both the total weight and/or the total number of cases.
  • Reduce the amount of waste produced by considering purchasing decisions, and whether items can be donated, reused, or recycled, before committing them to waste disposal.
  • Utilise recycling facilities available to recycle paper, plastic bottles, cans, batteries, waste electrical items, and other waste.

*The approximate amount of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) produced per Km (Kilometre) of air travel is calculated by taking the longest distance flight from the top 10 busiest international flight routes (LHR – JFK = 5,539.65Km) as ranked by OAG Aviation International (Dec23), and the amount of CO2 produced by the average passenger for this flight (1,107.93Kg) based on the Carbon Trusts Carbon Footprint Calculator (July24). According to the EASA, the mean passenger weight for adults (including carry-on luggage) is 84.00Kg, and the average weight of checked luggage is 16.00Kg (Nov22). Therefore, the approximate amount of CO2 produced per Km can be calculated by ((1,107.93/5,539.65)/100.00) x equipment weight.

Salisbury Picture Company has implemented several Strategic Priorities and Objectives related to Environmental Sustainability. These objectives will be reviewed annually.
